Roger,

I have been in LV almost 3 years and I do share your concerns. I live near the Silverado Ranch/Maryland Parkway area and appreciate the quiet nature of what lies just minutes west of me.

In my opinion, the problem lies with the Clark County Planning Commission. They seem to have no focus/concern as to what direction the future of the Valley will have. It troubles me to see vast areas of open land within the city limits. One can drive on Lake Mead between Pecos and Lamb, or  to see a huge area of open desert for example. I wonder why the Commission cannot develop these existing areas and not continually expand the tracts of housing developments and fast food/retail franchises?

Then, we hear of their failure to hire enough teachers for the existing school district, or the possibility of electrical blackouts because NV Power cannot supply enough energy, or the nightmare of finding a quality water supply. The commission doesn't realize that more people in the valley means more funding for police, fire, jails, county administrators, etc, etc. The list of services that will be necessary is endless, and we are stuck to hear of the budget shortfalls the county already has!

Please continue your media campaign against this project and get the message out that the commissioners must be voted out and more sensible politicians must be brought in!

Thanks -

Michael Kolpak
