E-mail from Las Vegas
resident (and British subject) Dr. Barbara Page-Roberts to members
of the Simply Global web
community.
To all American Members
Well folks, we always say 'Charity Begins at Home'..... and there
is not much point in my way of thinking in encouraging everyone
to support the Rain Forests a zillion miles away, and let our
own land be destroyed by the greed of the few..... we have a
very serious environmental problem here in the close proximity
of Las Vegas, and I implore you all to read about it, and then
make contact to fight it......please go to www.redrock.org and study the information there and ACT.
Believe you me, most people here accept the fate of having to
have a nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain, which probably
when the chips are down, is in the interests of the vast majority
of Americans in the USA.
But there is no way the interests of 'Big Business and Land Developers'
(who happen to be British!!!) should be allowed to destroy the
ecosystem of Red Rock and its surroundings. Please take a very
serious look at www.redrock.org, and join your voice in the protest
if you don't like what you see....doesn't matter you don't live
here....How would you Texans like it if Big Developers went after
Big Bend National Park, or Palo Durra Canyon, or Big Thicket?......
How would any of you like it if some Rich Wise Guys came
up with a Development Plan for the Grand Canyon? what
about Yosemite, what about Shenandoah National Park and Skyline
Drive??? Crater Lake?? Believe me, if you let THIS one go, there
will be a next and a next.....Please don't let it happen.
It is unbelievable to me that it even gets past the preliminary
planning hearing so ACT NOW..... You won the Tea party in Boston
all those years ago, and you celebrate it every July.... just
make sure you don't now allow the Brits or indeed anyone else,
to destroy your National Heritage.
Yours,
BarbaraPR
